Batting Practice Highlights
8/17/2019 12:14:04 PM
Noah Greise (2020 C, Omaha, NE) put on a show to open up batting practice, showing some present bat speed and power. Greise flashes excellent power to drive it to and through the pull side gap, and the Wichita State commit uses a strong lower half and naturally lifted barrel plane to consistently drive the baseball.

Andy Nelson (2020 SS, Winfield, IL) has a compact swing with good bat speed, and showed the ability to drive the ball on a line to and through both gaps. The Iowa commit has some high-level athleticism and stays simple in a swing that is conducive to consistent, hard contact.

John Kramer (2021 OF, St. Louis, MO) showcased a lot of power to the pull side of the field Saturday, driving balls to the wall with ease. A Mississippi commit, Kramer has an open stance from the left side of the plate, and his naturally lifted barrel plane allows him to be a constant power threat with the bat.

Connor Camden (2021 OF, Littleton, CO) uses all of his 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame at the plate, showing the ability to get his hands extended and drive balls to the pull side. The Colorado native and uncommitted member of the 2021 class has present power to and through the gap when squared, and the swing stays simple with a toe tap load and line drive barrel plane.

Coltrane Rubner (2021 OF, Livonia, MI) turned heads in what was an impressive display of power, driving a handful of balls over the wall in right field. Rubner has east pop from the left side of the plate, and uses his present bat speed and naturally lifted barrel plane to hit some towering shots that jump off the barrel.

Joseph Harris (2020 1B, Marshalltown, IA) was another left-handed bat to impress Saturday, using his present bat speed and slightly lifted barrel plane to drive balls to and through the pull side gap. An uncommitted member of the 2020 class, Harris has a physical frame and easy barrel control that allow for consistently hard contact.

Cole Robinson (2020 1B, High Ridge, MO) used his physical frame and present strength to put on an outstanding display of power during batting practice Saturday, driving a couple of balls way over the wall in left field. Robinson has present bat speed and swings with intent to drive the baseball. A Missouri State commit, the right-handed hitter gets his hands extended to drive the baseball to the pull side.

Gable Mitchell (2022 SS, Iowa City, IA) continues to be one of the more impressive 2022's in the state of Iowa, and the switch-hitter was impressive from both sides of the plate on Saturday. Mitchell has excellent bat-to-ball skills at the plate, and has a high-contact approach to make consistently hard contact from both sides. Mitchell's power tool is more present from the left side at the moment, driving balls to and through the pull side gap from that side of the plate.

Dalton Rudd (2020 C, Ellsinore, MO) has a tall and slightly open stance from the right-side of the plate, and showcase a compact swing and easy power during batting practice on Saturday. Rudd has a slightly lifted barrel plane and uses some present bat speed and barrel control to drive the ball to and through the pull side gap.

Tommy Specht (2022 OF, Dubuque, IA) was another member of Iowa's 2022 class to have an impressive morning at the plate, showing an easy swing with good barrel feel and control. Specht uses a middle of the field to pull side approach, and his direct path to contact allows for balls to jump off the barrel when squared.

Tyler Tscherter (2020 SS, Reinbeck, IA) used his clean and compact swing to spray line drives all over the field Saturday, and the uncommitted member of the 2020 class showcased excellent barrel control and a line drive swing plane. The Iowa native has an athletic frame with plenty of room to add strength, and the power could develop nicely as the frame does the same.

Ben Sinnott (2020 1B, Waterloo, IA) finished batting practice with one of the loudest rounds of the day, consistently driving balls on a line to the pull side. The left-handed hitter has a physical frame at 6-foot-3, 220-pounds, and he used his present bat speed and bat-to-ball skills to make hard contact throughout the round.
