2019 Sunshine West (06/01/2019 - 06/02/2019)

11-Purple v 9-Navy Game Highlights
6/2/2019 12:00:00 AM
Ricky Rodenberg (2022 3B, Temecula, CA) started the scoring for team purple with a towering RBI double that one hopped the fence in dead left field. Rodenberg's double was especially impressive on a misty morning that had hitters struggling to get the ball to travel. He has quick hands and gets his barrel on plane quickly generating consistent backspin.

In the sixth Navy unloaded some big swings at the plate. Jack Vrh Jr. (2021 C, Scottsdale, AZ) scorched an RBI double past the left fielder into the gap. He did a nice job of keeping his hands inside the baseball and pulled his bottom hand whipping his barrel through the zone.

Ayden Markovich (2021 3B, Queen Creek, AZ) added on in the sixth inning with a triple that was ripped past the first baseman down the right field line. Markovich got his hands out in front of a mistake left over the plate and showcased an excellent speed tool on his triple.

Purple answered back with a double of their own by Rocco DiFrancesco (2021 C, Dana Point, CA). He laced a lined shot that kept carrying over the left fielders head. He creates great tension between his upper and lower half and displayed it with a hard hit ball that kept sailing on the left fielder.

In the seventh, Corbin Ellis (2020 OF, Placentia, CA) had what was easily the hardest hit ball of the day with a line drive through the six hole and eventual scored for team Navy. Ellis has phenomenal bat speed that generates a strong amount of pop even for his large frame.

In the eighth inning, right hander Tucker Bougie (2021 1B, Mill Valley, CA) displayed some electric stuff on the mound topping out at 87 mph and mixing all of his pitches for strikes. In his second inning of work, Bougie struck out the side and even played with the shape of his plus 10-to-4 shaped slider, turning it into more of an 11-to-4 shaped curveball. Plenty of potential in his developing arm.

Justin Baldwin (2020 1B, Los Angeles, CA) Baldwin displayed a balanced stance at the plate with good feel for the barrel throughout the zone. Collected two sharp singles in his two at-bats during game action.
