2017 PG Top Prospect Games at TCU

Game 1 Highlights Gold vs Green
9/23/2017 5:32:09 PM
Dalton Mall (2018 RHP, Overland Park, KS) pounded the bottom of the zone with a heavy fastball that reached 90 mph but sat 87-88 consistently. Showed a short and tight, late-breaking slider with good hand speed and 10-to-4 shape. Worked three scoreless innings with six strikeouts on the day on two hits and no walks.

Josh Wolf (2019 RHP, Bellaire, TX) projects well, topped at 89 with solid downhill plane to the fastball. Completed three innings while allowing one hit and striking out three.

Christopher Benavides (2019 SS, Spring, TX) showed arm strength, sitting 88-89 and a late breaking slider with bite at 78. Struck out three batters in the one inning of relief.

Jared Younce (2019 RHP, Round Rock, TX) showed an advanced feel for mixing four pitches for strikes, in his three-scoreless innings of work. His fastball, which was fairly-straight, ranged 84-86 with control to both halves of the plate. Younce showed two distinctly separate breaking balls, a curve with 11-to-5 shape as well as a short, tight breaking slider he used to keep hitters off time. With the addition of his swing-and-miss changeup he proved difficult to hit. Added a 2-for-4 day at the plate with a run scored.

Nicolas Gullo (2019 RHP, Dripping Springs, TX) wrapped a hard hit, line drive-double into the right field corner in his second at bat of the day and showed solid speed on base paths. With clean and easy defensive actions and plus arm strength in the infield, Gullo turned in a solid performance.

Austin Stracener (2021 SS, New Braunfels, TX) has high level athletic and defensive skills that were on display throughout infield and games. Handles the bat well from the left side going 1-for-1 with two walks and showed good speed and instincts on the bases, stealing three bases and scoring two runs on the day.

Tristin Lively (2018 RHP, Las Cruces, NM) mound presence and poise while working 90-91 with some cut action on the fastball. He struck out three in three innings of work while allowing 2 hits.

Trevor Candelaria (2018 OF, Durango, CO) showed some strength turning around a 91-mph fastball and drilling a double to deep left field in his second at bat of the game. He added a sac fly and picked up a RBI in his last at-bat of the day.

Dax Dathe (2019 SS, Round Rock, TX) finished the 1-for-3 at the plate with single, a stolen base and a run scored.
