14u Elite Scout Notes: Day 1 & 2

The 14U Perfect Game National Elite Championship got started on Monday in Hoover. This event offers a glimpse into some of the players we may see selected for various National Showcases in the future. 


East Coast Sox Founders Club always brings a talent laden roster to whichever PG event they participate in and this week in Alabama is no different. Jacob Thorn (2024, Gulf Breeze, Fla.) got the start in game one, showing interesting potential upside on the mound. Thorn works from a fairly simple operation with looseness to his arm stroke and ability to command both sides of the plate. The fastball worked in the upper 70s for most of his four-and-two thirds innings, topping out at 80 mph with life through the zone. The young righthander shows feel for spin and will continue to expand upon that as he matures. There is plenty of projection remaining for Thorn despite a physical look at present.
