PG Announces Desert Classic


CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Perfect Game has announced the addition of a new tournament for their summer schedule for 2011 with the PG Desert Classic. The tournament will consist of 3 age divisions with a 14u, 16u, and 18u division. The tournament will be hosted at the brand new Salt River Fields at Talking Stick near Scottsdale, AZ. This is the spring training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. The dates of the event will be June 10-12, 2011 and will be one of the very first amateur tournament events held at the incredible facility.

Each game at the tournament will have PG scouts and an official scorekeeper in attendance. Fans, scouts, and college coaches that are unable to attend will be able to follow and gather information online at where they can locate scores, game wraps, scouting blogs, and player information.

With the addition of this event and several more planned for the future, Perfect Game has dedicated the time and effort to increase their presence in the state of Arizona. They have also added Ryan Dyer to the staff to assist with operations of the events. Dyer is currently the Head Baseball Coach at 2010 4A1 State Champion Saguaro High School in Scottsdale. He brings a vast knowledge of running tournaments for both the high school and summer travel teams.

“We realize that there are many very talented players and teams in the southwest and we needed to expand our presence in the area.” said Perfect Game President Jerry Ford. “With the addition of these events and Ryan’s reputation, we feel this will be a positive addition for both Perfect Game and the players in the area.”
