Drew Beam (2021 Murfreesboro, Tenn.) showed a fastball that at times could be dominant last night in his four innings outing for VBA 17U Black. The Tennessee commit sat 89-92 mph with his fastball showing good tilt as he pounded the bottom half of the strike zone. He also showed a curveball in the mid 70’s with some bite and a change up that showed good arm speed and some arm side life. The physical 6-4, 200 pound right-hander worked from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long clean arm action and little effort through the delivery. His ability to locate the fastball at the bottom of the zone and use his secondary pitches off that allowed him to strike out seven as he registered ten swings and misses.
