West Elite Champ. Scout Notes: Days 1 & 2

Ethan Lewis (2022, Golden, Colo.) was up to 83 on the mound for CC-Armour Baseball in the 16u division as he battled through 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Lewis has a longer arm action with a slender frame that has plenty of room to strengthen and fill out as he continues to progress. His longer arm action comes up to a high three-quarters slot. He then falls off the mound towards his glove side as he finishes down the hill. Lewis looked to establish his fastball early in his outing and was changing hitters’ eye levels with intent. At times he does open his front side early which causes his arm to lag and miss high and arm side. What’s interesting is his arm stroke changes when he moves into the stretch as it’s much shorter with a more direct stroke to the window. When his command is on with a closed front side after separation, he pounds the lower half of the zone with strikes and is efficient with producing soft groundball outs.
