During the fall with our scouts spread out across the country our scouts have had the opportunity to catch some fall ball at the junior college level. Over the next few weeks we'll provide reports on their observations looking ahead to the spring.

Programs covered: Riverside City College, Fullerton College, Mt. SAC

Seth Spencer, lhp, Riverside City College (Fr.)
Spencer is a freshman lefthander who provided a nice look in Riverside City College’s fall game against UC Riverside. He struck out the side in order in his first inning and also fanned the side in the second, although he did struggle with command against a few of the hitters he faced. Spencer has a compact frame that may suggest a future reliever profile but offered a legit two-pitch mix that includes a lively fastball thrown mostly at 88-89 mph and a wipeout 74-76 mph curveball with a spin rate around 2700 RPM. There weren’t too many comfortable swings against the lefthander who works from the third base side of the slab, showing comfort working inside to righthanded hitters with a fastball that really got in on hitters, making the pitch seem even firmer.
