High School Class of 2020 Player Rankings

Chase Centala (2020, Tampa, Fla.) NEW to 212
Centala made big strides on the mound over the summer, reaching 91 mph with his fastball from a projectable and fairly clean delivery. His fastball consistently lives in the upper-80s from an extended release generating plenty of sink and arm-side run on his heater. Centala is one of two players to enter the class of 2020 player rankings for the first time and immediately places himself inside the top 250.

Levi Wells (2020, Laporte, Texas) NEW to 213
The other new addition to the rankings and already up to No. 213 is Texas native Levis Wells. The righthander pitched a dominating game during 16u WWBA National Championship in which he went 5 2/3 no-hit innings striking out nine. Wells tops out at 90 mph with his fastball mixing in a sharp breaking ball as well. Wells is a high-level recruit on the bump and his newly added ranking represents that.

Michael Brown (2020, Vacaville, Calif.) 298 to 35
During the PG Underclass All-American Games, Michael Brown showcased some of the best power in the class by hitting multiple long and towering home runs during batting practice and in game. The uncommitted lefthanded hitting first baseman concluded his round of BP by hitting a towering ball onto the dorms in right field at the University of San Diego, raw pop not frequently seen from a player of his age.

Jason Savacool (2020, Baldwinsville, N.Y.) 484 to 69
Savacool made a sharp impression on the mound during the PG Underclass All-American Games with a fastball up to 92 mph and a four-pitch mix for strikes that included a tight slider and a diving splitter. One of the most projectable pitchers of the event showcasing lots of arm speed and varying arm angles was able to rise 415 spots in the most recent rankings update.

Najer Victor (2020, Clermont, Fla.) 500 to 160
Elite arm speed and life on his fastball up to 91 mph combined with athleticism and bat speed at the plate are a recipe for success and that is what UCF commit Najer Victor brings to the table. Moving up from the 500 ranks to 160, Victor has a lot of things to like on both sides of the ball and can impact a game in a big way.

Hayden Durke (2020, Abbeville, La.) 500 to 80
The highest riser in the newly updated rankings is a prep righthander from Louisiana, Hayden Durke. The local product committed to the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette made an enormous stride this summer taking his fastball from topping out at 85 mph to 92 in nearly one year’s time. Durke not only has low-90s velocity, but he also has the ability to locate three pitches with feel, especially his changeup.

Dante Girardi (2020, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 500 to 138
Receiving plenty of buzz this summer for his defensive actions and hit tool, the son of former New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi has a high-level skill-set that plays extremely well in game. Playing for an always-talented FTB program, Girardi hit 15-for-52 (.288) during the 2018 summer and helped lead the way for a runner-up finish at the 16u PG World Series.

Wyatt Tucker (2020, Douglass, Texas) High Follow to 271
One of the tightest curveballs in the 2020 class belongs to Texas A&M commit Wyatt Tucker. Turning in a pair of dominating outings during 16u WWBA National Championship, Tucker struck out 13 batters in 10 innings with an upper-80s fastball and 2500-plus rpm curveball. The righthander projects extremely well on the mound with his 6-foot-3 frame and there is no reason to believe he will not continue to improve as he matures.
