High School Class of 2019 Player Rankings

Chris Newell (2019, Newtown Square, Pa.) 274 to 74
Highlighted as the highest riser that enters into the top 100 portion of the updated rankings is lefthanded hitting outfielder Chris Newell. The University of Virginia commit has a long and leveraged swing that gets extended through the hitting zone well. He made a premier play at East Coast Pro, diving with full extension to make a grab, and had a nice summer at Perfect Game events batting 7-for-20 (.350) that included a pair of home runs during the 17u WWBA National Championship.

Carter Rustad (2019, Kansas City, Mo.) 500 to 116
With a high ceiling and outstanding physical projection, combined with a fastball up to 92 mph, there are plenty of reasons to like Rustad and it shows in his updated ranking as the highest riser in the class 2019. Rustad throws a four-pitch mix with a clean delivery and arm action that should continue to add velocity with time as well.

Chandler Best (2019, Mobile, Alabama) 494 to 176
The 6-foot lefthander and Southern Mississippi commit had an outstanding summer where he saw his fastball jump 11 mph in a year’s time, peaking at 93 mph at the 17u WWBA National Championship. Best gets significant angle as well as life on his fastball that he continually located at the knees in multiple looks. His changeup is a big-time weapon that is really deceptive and an outstanding complement to his fastball, making for a 318-spot jump in the ranking update.

Jonathan Cannon (2019, Alpharetta, Ga.) 500 to 193
A tall and highly projectable righthander out of Georgia committed in-state to the UGA Bulldogs is righthander Jonathan Cannon. Cannon can reach 93 mph with his fastball on the mound as well as a class-of-2019-best 93 mph from first base. His projection is highest on the mound, however, where he fills up the zone well with a three-pitch mix. His changeup is his out-pitch coming from a similar tunnel with comparable fastball arm speed.

Dave Falco (2019, Center Moriches, N.Y.) 500 to 238
Moving up from the 500 rankings into the top 250 is Maryland commit Dave Falco. The 6-foot-4 righthanded pitcher is another tall pitching prospect who resides in the Empire State and can touch 93 mph with his fastball. He mixes in a sharp curveball as well and had a pair of appearances during the 17u WWBA National Championship in which he tossed five innings with three punchouts.

Randon Hostert (2019, Idaho Falls, Idaho) New to 300
One new addition to the rankings who makes a huge jump straight into the top 300 is righthanded pitcher Randon Hostert. Hostert. Hostert has garnered a significant amount of buzz in the Northwest, and standing at 6-foot-5, 160-pounds, Hostert is extremely projectable and is intriguing to scouts.
