14u PG Select Roster Reveal 14u PG Select Event Page

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Forty-four of the top 14u players will display their talents at the 3rd annual 14u PG Select Festival to take place September 2 at jetBlue Park, the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox.

The event will have a different look as the last two years have pitted the top players from the East and West against one another. In the 2018 edition the two teams have been separated to two 22-man teams with longtime major league pitchers Scott Erickson and Tom “Flash” Gordon manning each squad with a combined 30-plus years of experience as big leaguers.

The 44-man roster features players from 17 states along with representation from Canada, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. To view the full rosters please visit this link:

Players were selected for the Festival by way of their performances at top Perfect Game tournament events – including the WWBA, BCS and Super25 National Championships– as well as the 14u National Showcase that took place in early August. From the 14u National Showcase, which was also conducted at jetBlue Park in Fort Myers, 16 players were selected.

Many of the National Showcase attendees were invited due to their performances in regional showcases that were conducted at six sites – Texas, Georgia, California, Illinois, Florida and New York – during the spring. The invite-only National Showcase pits the top 14u players against one another in game competition and is a highly-sought after invitation for the end of the summer as players prepare for the beginning of their high school careers.

For the participants, getting to play at the spring training site of the Boston Red Sox on national television is a thrill in itself, but that is just the conclusion of their experience at the Festival. Throughout their stay in Southwest Florida, players will be staying at the comforts of the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort on the Gulf of Mexico. Players will also get to take part in visiting the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida and fundraise money to help benefit the cause in aiding children.

GCH is the only children’s hospital between Tampa and Miami, and it provides vital healthcare for the region’s sick and injured children and their families, from infancy through age 18. In the first two years of the event, over $56,000 has been raised for Golisano as one of the central themes of why the game was created as a way of lending a helping hand to children and their families.

Each player will have a page in which they can raise money and during the game, a check will be presented to GCH with the total funds raised. To learn more about how you can help, visit www.perfectgame.org/Golisano to browse the player’s individual pages to donate.

The Perfect Game Select Baseball Festival will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network. First pitch will be at 7:08 p.m. ET, with the game consisting of nine innings. An archive of the game will also be available to stream online, and for those in the Fort Myers area, admission is free to all who would like to attend.

During the game, there will be a chance to win $10,000 or $30,000 with the purchase of a ticket. The $10,000 prize will take place during the third inning by participating in the competition, Balls and Strikes. Participants will have six chances to throw three balls through the target, before throwing four balls.

The Home Run Challenge will be held during the sixth inning and the winner will be awarded the grand prize of $30,000. The participants will have three chances to hit a home run off a tee on the field at jetBlue Park.

After the game there will be a fireworks show presented by Zambelli Fireworks.
