JuCo Route Updates

It's been a busy time on the junior college circuit with several programs not only building towards their futures with high school pick ups, but also players transferring from four-year programs at the break. Some of the names below will be featured prominently on Brian Sakowski's top 150 JuCo prospect list coming out within the next week. 

Junior College Pickups/Transfers

Jared Hart, of, San Jacinto (TX)
• Ranked No. 234 in the class of 2018
• Above average runner with excellent defensive tools in the outfield, projects very well in center field. 
• Consistent hitting mechanics, makes solid line drive contact to all fields and projects for power. 

Tyler McKay, rhp, Kansas State to Howard (TX)
• Tall, lanky build with good projection remaining on frame. 
• Works up to 93-94 mph with his fastball, could see velocity gains in the future as well. 
• Shows three pitch mix with solid slider and developing changeup. 

Markus Ramos, rhp, Oregon to San Jacinto (TX)

Works into low-90's w/ fastball at present, could see velocity gains in future.  
Big time curveball w/ swing-and-miss bite.
• Rawness to profile overall, but w/ very high upside. 

Mason Doolittle, c, Louisiana State to Palm Beach
• Ranked No. 147 in class of 2017, originally from Jupiter, Fla.
• Shows very good defensive tools; good agility, a strong arm, & quality receiving skills. 
• Can work to all fields when hitting, physicality portends future power potential. 

Brandon Kaminer, lhp, Miami to Florida Southwestern State
• Ranked in the Top 500 in the class of 2017; Florida native. 
• Pitches consistently in the mid-80's with the looseness and physicality needed to project for more. 
• Lands curveball for strikes consistently. 

Rian Haire, lhp, South Carolina to St. John's River
• Ranked No. 107 in the class of 2016; North Carolina native. 
• Has worked into the low-mid 90's with his fastball along with a very good slider. 
• Overall command of arsenal will likely dictate ultimate ceiling. 

Chris Holcomb, lhp, Alabama to State College of Florida
• Ranked No. 304 in the class of 2017; native of Massachusetts. 
• Long and lean, athletic frame; ideal pitcher's build. 
• Has been into low-90's with fastball, does a good job creating angles to the plate. 

Noah Burkholder, rhp, Louisville to Waubonsee
• Ranked No. 252 in the class of 2015; native of Indiana. 
• Did not pitch at Louisville in either '16 or '17, is redshirt sophomore in 2018. 
• Outstanding size and physicality, reports of him reaching mid-90's in bullpens in the past.

Ryan Eiermann, lhp, Texas Christian to Waubonsee

• Ranked in Top 500 in the class of 2017; native of Illinois. 
• Transferred out after one semester at TCU. 
• Creates good angles to the plate from left side, works in upper-80's with fastball. 


Junior College to Four-Year Commitments

Brock Mathis, c, Northwest Florida State to Louisiana State
• Ranked No. 406 in the class of 2017, attended NWFS right out of high school in Ohio. 
• Physical and athletic backstop with good defensive tools overall. 
• Shows good raw power when hitting, should be attribute offensively. 

Luke Berryhill, c, Walters State to South Carolina
• Former Perfect Game All-American, ranked No. 139 in the class of 2016 out of Georgia. 
• Transferred to Walters State from Georgia Southern, where he missed most of '17 due to injury. 
• Top quality defensive backstop with all the tools; shows good feel to hit as well. 

Jaren Shelby, of, State College of Florida to Kentucky
• Former Perfect Game All-American, ranked No. 52 in the class of 2016. 
• Lexington native, lots of family ties to Kentucky. 
• Big time righthanded power, profiles best in corner outfield with quality athleticism. 

Jake Matheny, c, San Jacinto to Missouri
• Ranked No. 205 in the class of 2016; attended Indiana to start college career. 
• Figures to do most of the catching at San Jac in '18, good defensive tools overall. 
• Loose swing with plenty of bat speed, works to all fields well and flashes power. 

Saul Garza, c, Howard to Louisiana State
• Excellent physicality and strenth; pro-ready body. 
• Outstanding defender who will do most of the catching at Howard, legitimate draft prospect. 
• Big raw power from the right side, potential middle-of-the-order bat.
