Weekend Preview |

The seventh weekend of the 2017 college baseball season turned out to be particularly tumultuous, with four teams being removed from the rankings, and as a result, four new teams coming in. One of those teams is Kentucky, who make a lofty debut after taking their third consecutive SEC series to move to 7-2 in the conference. Auburn also makes a lofty debut after beating the previously fourth-ranked Gamecocks at home, and are also off to a red-hot 7-2 start in the SEC.

Another 7-2 SEC team is the Arkansas Razorbacks, who jump up 10 spots after taking their series on the road against Alabama, while Oklahoma moves up 13 spots after taking their series against Texas Tech. Overall there were a lot of teams that made significant moves in both directions, and in particular teams ranked eighth through 13th didn't fare well, as Florida State, LSU and Stanford all sustained big drops. FSU especially needs a wakeup call as they went 0-4 on the week and were swept, at home, by North Carolina.

Wake Forest and Southern Miss are the other two newcomers to the rankings, both of who are off to very good starts to the season. Wake Forest in particular made a statement by winning their series in Coral Gables against Miami.

Be sure to check out the Perfect Game College Player Database for scouting updates from UCLA/Arizona State as well as a look at Central Arizona College (JuCo) lefthander Ryley Widell.

With the college basketball championship taking place this evening Perfect Game College Baseball will be taking a one-week break from the airwaves. It will return to its regular programming time (9-11 p.m. ET) on SiriusXM College Sports National (channel 84) next week.
