KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Morning Session
Elizabeth Wood is a 5'9, class of 2026 RHP from Richmond, MO who attends Richmond HS. Elizabeth is a strong and powerful, up and coming player who shows projectable two-way ability that will certainly continue to positively evolve as her career continues. She ran a commendable 3.53 20-yard dash which is plus average for her age group. She also turned in an impressive 1.16 5-yard split burst. A primary RHP, Elizabeth shows a mechanical operation that should allow her to mature into a solid upper division pitcher in a few years. Her fundamental foundation is excellent. Currently she shows promise with a sound two-pitch mix. She works to the lower half of the zone with a plus fastball that has some drop component to it. Her FB shows promising spin and she ably keeps it off the middle of the plate and on both edges. Solid number one pitch. Her change is thrown with the same arm action as her FB. Her CH has some drop action that is purposeful. She doesn't tip her off-speed pitch and keeps it on the edges. Lastly, the CH tumbles late and shows plus potential as a big pitch moving forward. Elizabeth also took a round on the infield. She shows promising agility and a feel for playing on the dirt. Very tough and gritty effort. She positions well and her glove plays. Not afraid to stick her nose in there. She transitions routinely and her 48-mph throws find their mark consistently. At the plate this RHH shows a solid ability to handle the bat in the bunt game. She starts in a balanced stance and shows quick hands and a short, quick, direct trigger. She gets her barrel to contact with some force. Elizabeth is more of a line drive hitter at the moment, but power is certain to come as her career continues and she is exposed to higher level competition. Elizabeth current ability is fundamentally strong and her skill is certain to reach a higher level with continued attention to detail, added strength, and play against higher level talent. Bright future ahead for this talented young player.
