KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Brynn Ortlund is a 5'6, class of 2023, SS/OF from Indianola, IA who attends Indianola HS. Brynn is an experienced, upper class player who has a athletic approach based on the speed game. She ran a 3.21 20-yard dash with a 1.14 5-yard split. Both times are very good. A primary infielder, Brynn is a natural defender. Her footwork is quick and easy and she positions well. Her glove is soft and smooth and she transitions well. Her throwing action is solid. Her 52-mph throws are routinely accurate. Mature ability. College ready. She also took a turn in the outfield where her athleticism shone through. Noticeable quick twitch actions. She positions quickly and plays through the fielding action with momentum. Her glove plays. She transitions well to a 54-mph arm. Her throws are firm and accurate. Sound! At the plate, the LHH plays to her most prominent tool,; her ability to run. She is an advanced bunter and should be. The short game has to be part of her offensive make-up. she is a slapper. A tough operation, she handles it well. She has the right idea. She, like a lot of slappers, will run herself out of the box on occasion, she does a pretty good job of staying on path and to contact. Solidly sound ability that always needs constant refinement. Brynn has a plus future inthe game. Her defense and speed game play. Should she continue to stay the course and be attentive to detail, she will certainly have the opportunity to play at the next level.. Upside promise!
