Samarra Purdy is a 5'7, class of 2024 C/UT from Des Moines, IA who attends Des Moines East HS. Samarra is an young and upcoming skilled and athletic player who shows projectable ability on defense and at the plate. She ran a commendable 3.49 20-yard dash, with a solid 1.14 5-yard split burst time. A primary catcher, Samarra has an easy set up and presents a low profile. Her glove is smooth and sure. Solid transition and a quick trigger gets her 54-maph throws on target. Her 2.10 pop time is sound. Very projectable skill with the gear on. She also took a turn on the IF. Her footwork and throwing ability are best suite for a corner spot as she is especially adept at moving to her glove side. Her glove plays well. She transitions quickly and her 54-mph throws are firm and true. At the plate, this RHH has a narrow base at the ready. She has a slid approach to bunting and can handle the bat. She has a bigger, very controlled stride and a quick set that lets her hands go in a hurry. She is short and quick to contact and has an all-fields approach. She does hit the ball where it is pitched. Samarra has a plus feel for the barrel and showed emerging power that will certainly become more prevalent as her career continues. Solid workout! Sound skill level. Very promising future!

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
