KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Lauren Durst is a 5'7, class of 2022, 3B/C, OF from Blue Grass, IA who attends Davenport North HS. Lauren is an upper class player with quick twitch athleticism. She has a veteran's approach to play and she shows skill at more than one position. She ran a solid 3.22 20-yard dash that included a 1.09 5-yard split which was one of the better explosive times in the combine. A primary infielder, Lauren displays solid footwork that allows her to position quickly and confidently. Her glove is smooth and her transition is routine. Her 54-mph throws hold their plane and are consistently accurate. Lauren also took a turn behind the plate where she shows an easy set up. She has softer hands and a quick trigger. Her 50-mph throws are highly accurate and her 2.00 pop time shows college readiness. At the plate, this RHH has a solid ability to bunt the ball and with her speed this should be a big part of her game. It is clear that Lauren understands her role and is comfortable with her offensive game. She has a contact first concept. She uses the whole field. She is short, quick, and direct to contact and has a flatter bat path. She can move the ball. Hard ground balls and line drives define who Lauren is as a hitter. Solid approach. Nice round. Lauren is ready for the next level. Her approach in all areas of the game are polished. She is obviously poised and has actions that will play and play well at the collegiate level. Promising future!
