Select Fastpitch 18u Chester takes home the gold this weekend, going 3-1 in pool play, with an offense that gets the job done. This team capitalizes on getting the ball in play and moving the runners around, making them a difficult competition. Leading Select Fastpitch 18u Chester at the plate is Chloe Gilbert (2023, Breckenridge, MO) with a .692 batting average, racking up and smacking out nine hits including a homer. Gilbert collected nine RBI and crossed the plate four runs, making Select one of the leading team in runs scored. Teammate, Ella Hayes (2023, Kansas City, MO), helped the cause with some big hits to get her on base, scoring an impressive ten times and knocking in an additional six. Hayes presents a quick, explosive cut that produces great pop for power.
Parker Wooderson (2025, Blues Springs, MO) has great hands to the ball, driving it deep in the field. Wooderson makes contact out front and explodes through extension generating consistent power behind the ball as shown in her ten hits, three being doubles. Wooderson scored seven times for Athletics Russel 18u and assisted in four additional running, helping Athletics advance to the championship game. An honorable mention player for Athletics Russel 18u is centerfielder, Quincie Chunestudey (2024, Jay, OK). Chunestudey has an incredible arm and gigantic range in the outfield, making several diving catches and hurling the ball home to throw out a greedy runner. Paris Hammer (2023, Sedalla, MO) is another player worth mentioning for her disgusting flip change that sending batters sitting with swing and miss action. You are warned, Hammer won’t hesitate to throw back to back offspeed to send you packing.
Makella Jacobs (2023, Clear Lakes, IA) is a standout, uncommitted player for North Iowa Heat who made a great impression for her performance at the plate. Jacobs has plus-pop for power with a strong lower half, creating incredible pull-side power. Jacobs collected six hits with two doubles and two homers over centerfield fence. More impressive are her ten RBI and six runs crossing the plate.
Chesney Luebbering (2024, Wardsville, MO) is a Columbia College softball commit who put in the work at the plate for Comets. Luebbering makes great rotation, clearing her hands through the ball and giving a fantastic lift sending the ball sailing. Closing the weekend with a .636 average, this slugger smacked out seven hits, including a homer over left-center fence, assisting in 13 runs for the Comets. Her teammate, Baley Rackers (2024, Jefferson City, MO) is an aggressive slapper with elite speed down the line, making her a threat. Rackers has great hands and clear contact through the zone, booking it down the line at incredible speed. On the bases, she is an aggressive runner, taking extra bases and putting herself in scoring position.
Abby Johnson (2026, Johnston, IA) of Alliance Select 18u Blackford has a consistently solid feel for the barrel, finishing with a beautiful lift through an explosive connection. With a touch and go cut, Johnson finished the weekend with a .667 average at the plate including seven hits, two walks, six RBI, and five runs.
Minnesota State Softball commit, Madison Oetzmann (2023, Urbandale, IA), had an impressive performance as always in the circle, working through 13 innings and stacking a tournament high of 31 strikeouts. Oetzmann has an incredible, functional repertoire including a lively rise and a cutting curve, working in the 57-58 mph zone. Her biggest threat is a late breaking drop, that produces easy ground balls. Oetzmann allowed only three walks, earning a .62 WHIP. Teammate, Zadie Wadle (2023, Indianola, IA) did just as equally measurable work, making them a strong pitching staff for Iowa Bandits. In 15 innings, Wadle struck out 25 opponents, allowing zero walks, and earning a .60 WHIP. This RHP works all quadrants, with her curve being her closer, coming in at 59 mph.
