High School Class of 2018 Player Rankings

Grayson Rodriguez - 122 to 30 (2018, Nacogdoches, Texas)
Most recently up to 97 mph with his fastball and showing a pair of plus breaking balls, Rodriguez is making outstanding strides at the Texas high school level. Rodriguez is coming off of hand surgery nearly a year ago and he has progressively been better each time out including one start in particular in which he struck out 19 batters. The Texas A&M signee is rapidly rising up many Texas scouts’ draft boards.

Jayson Schroeder - 186 to 65 (2018, Kirkland, Wash.)
Listed at 6-foot-2, 200-pound and said to be even more physical than that now to some scouts, Schroeder has been blooming nicely this spring in the Pacific Northwest. The University of Washington commit has a good delivery and four-pitch mix to go along with a fastball that has recently been up to 96 mph. The curveball is good, the slider is solid and he shows feel for a changeup as well.

Gunnar Hoglund - 177 to 73 (2018, Hudson, Fla.)
Hoglund has made strides this spring as well and it shows in his flawless and very easy delivery. Sitting 92-95 with a hard-biting curveball, Hoglund is a big and athletic pitcher who has projected well for several years now. That projection is now paying off for him as he is rising up draft boards as well as the updated PG ranks.

Brett Hansen - 220 to 91 (2018, Pleasanton, Calif.)
As Hansen moves up to the 91st-ranked player in the 2018 rankings, he now moves up to the highest ranked uncommitted player in the class. The native of Northern California has been up to 95 this spring. The lefthander moved up 129 spots in the rankings and will be interesting to monitor the rest of this spring on the West Coast.

Mason Montgomery - 500 to 146 (2018, Leander, Texas)
Moving up 354 spots, the largest riser in the 2018 class is lefthanded pitcher Mason Montgomery out of Leander, Texas. According to multiple scouts, Montgomery has blossomed in Texas nicely this spring as both a pitcher and hitter. With an athletic frame, and as it is evident in his delivery, Montgomery has recently been up to 94 mph with his fastball and projects very well.

Taj Bradley - 303 to 152 (2018, Stone Mountain, Ga.)
Recently committing to South Carolina and topping out at 93 mph, Bradley has one of the more effortless and clean deliveries in the class. With good feel for three pitches, Bradley has the physical build on the mound at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds and was really impressive on opening day of the high school season in Georgia.

Kyle Luckham - 388 to 145 (2018, Fullerton, Calif.)
Luckham has grown a few inches since last appearing in a PG event in Jupiter and now stands at 6-foot-4, according to scouts, and featured a strong showing this spring. Up to 94 with his fastball and sitting 91-94, Luckham features a loose arm and a hard slider that projects plus. Luckham is just one of two, along with Brett Hansen, from the Golden State whose draft stock is on the rise.

Jack Neely - 500 to 243 (2018, San Antonio, Texas)
Extra-large framed Jack Neely stands at 6-foot-9, 230-pounds and has recently featured an explosive fastball up to 96 mph. From his frame, Neely generates plenty of angle. The Texas commit has bumped the aforementioned 96 mph, but has lived more 90-94 this spring generating some good buzz by Texas scouts.

Daniel Cerda - High Follow to 300 (2018, Statesboro, Ga.)
The Chipola JuCo commit really stood out at the PG High School Showdown-Academies in multiple facets. Cerda has multiple tools both on the mound and especially at his primary shortstop position. Showing advanced actions with fluidity and good arm strength across the diamond, the projectable infielder can swing the bat really well too. Cerda showcased some of the best barrel skills of the event as well.

Rook Ellington - 491 to 320 (2018, Paducah, Ky.)
Ellington has showcased his tool to scouts this spring and has climbed up the PG 2018 rankings quickly from 491 to 320. The Kentucky commit and speedy outfielder from the Bluegrass State has shown the ability to sprint a 6.60-second 60-yard dash and has arm good arm strength. With improved barrel skills, Ellington could continue to rise.

Rhett Daniel - 500 to 327 (2018, Carrollton, Ga.)
After making a strong jump in velocity, Daniel topped out at 88 mph over the summer and now features a 93 mph fastball with life. The ultra-projectable Daniel has three pitches with the changeup being the best secondary. The Coastal Carolina commit is a strong riser in the rankings and has the ability to command the strike zone well.
