Florida’s motto for the season should be “leaving no doubt”.
The Gators certainly left no doubt last week when they put together a fantastic week that has them once again atop the Perfect Game Top 25 rankings.
UF began last week with a thrilling midweek win over Florida State before hitting the road and doing the unthinkable with a series sweep over LSU led by dominant pitching in all three contests.
While the Gators lead the way in our rankings, the top five also includes No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 South Carolina. Texas, meanwhile, comes in at No. 6 after a good week that included a midweek win over Texas State and a series sweep over nemesis Kansas State.
No. 7 Arizona State, No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Cal State Fullerton and No. 10 Oklahoma round out this week’s top 10. The Yellow Jackets are the newest member of the upper echelon of teams after a perfect week that included a pair of midweek wins over Georgia Southern and a series sweep over N.C. State.
Fresno State and Texas A&M made moves after successful weeks, climbing to No’s 14 and 15, respectively, while Arizona dropped from No. 13 to No. 17 after another average week.
Connecticut and Arkansas dropped from the rankings this week, while Auburn returned from its brief hiatus and Oregon State entered for the first time.
The conference breakdowns are as follows: Pac-10 6, ACC 5, SEC 5, Big 12 4, Conference USA 2 and MWC, Big West and WAC all with one representative.

1. Florida (18-2)
Previous ranking: 1, Weekly record: 4-0
The Gators couldn’t have made a bigger statement last week. They defeated rival Florida State in midweek action before sweeping a road series from LSU.
2. Vanderbilt (19-2)
Previous ranking: 2, Weekly record: 3-1
The Commodores pitched at a high level for much of last week. They hammered Purdue in midweek action before taking two of three from Mississippi State.
3. Virginia (19-2)
Previous ranking: 4, Weekly record: 3-1
The Cavaliers had yet another week to remember. They won a midweek bout over James Madison before taking two of three from Florida State at home.
4. Florida State (16-4)
Previous ranking: 3, Weekly record: 1-3
The Seminoles played well throughout the week, but had some tough luck. They lost three one-run games, one to Florida and two to Virginia.
5. South Carolina (14-4)
Previous ranking: 5, Weekly record: 3-2
The Gamecocks split a pair of midweek affairs before staying at home and taking two of three from previously red-hot Georgia to begin SEC play.
6. Texas (15-5)
Previous ranking: 7, Weekly record: 4-0
The Longhorns had arguably their most impressive week on the diamond. They beat Texas State in midweek action before sweeping Kansas State to begin Big 12 play.
7. Arizona State (15-4)
Previous ranking: 9, Weekly record: 4-1
The Sun Devils had an impressive week on the diamond. They swept a pair of midweek games from Oklahoma before taking two of three from Oral Roberts.
8. Georgia Tech (17-4)
Previous ranking: 14, Weekly record: 5-0
The Yellow Jackets have been absolutely fantastic so far this season. They swept a pair of midweek games from Georgia Southern before sweeping N.C. State at home.
9. Cal State Fullerton (11-7)
Previous ranking: 11, Weekly record: 3-1
The Titans ended their road trip with a tough midweek loss to Texas A&M, but bounced back over the weekend with a series sweep over Washington.
10. Oklahoma (17-5)
Previous ranking: 6, Weekly record: 1-4
The Sooners had a week to forget. They dropped a pair of midweek games to Arizona State before losing two of three at home to Texas A&M.
11. TCU (12-7)
Previous ranking: 8, Weekly record: 2-2
The Horned Frogs dropped a midweek bout to Texas-Arlington before hitting the road and taking two of three from UNLV to begin Mountain West play.
12. Stanford (6-5)
Previous ranking: 12, Weekly record: 0-0
The Cardinal didn’t play two weeks ago because of finals. They didn’t play this past weekend because of inclement weather. Will they ever play again?
13. LSU (16-4)
Previous ranking: 10 , Weekly record: 1-3
The Tigers began the week with a road trip triumph over Nicholls State before returning home and losing all three games to Florida to begin SEC play.
14. Fresno State (14-2)
Previous ranking: 16, Weekly record: 3-0
Just how good the Bulldogs have been is one of the bigger surprises this season. They had another fantastic week that included a series sweep over Fresno State.
15. Texas A&M (15-5)
Previous ranking: 18, Weekly record: 3-1
The Aggies couldn’t have asked for a better week. They defeated Cal State Fullerton in midweek action before hitting the road and taking two of three from Oklahoma.
16. California (12-5)
Previous ranking: 15, Weekly record: 2-1
The Golden Bears began the week with a loss to San Francisco before taking a pair of games from Ohio State over the weekend.
17. Arizona (15-5)
Previous ranking: 13, Weekly record: 2-2
The Wildcats didn’t have a great week. They were swept in a pair of midweek games by Wichita State before beating San Francisco twice over the weekend.
18. Rice (13-9)
Previous ranking: 17, Weekly record: 3-1
Other teams in the rankings are simply playing much better than the Owls. They defeated Dallas Baptist to begin the week before sweeping Louisiana Tech.
19. North Carolina (18-3)
Previous ranking: 19, Weekly record: 4-0
The Tar Heels defeated Princeton to begin the week before hitting the road and sweeping Virginia Tech in ACC play.
20. Tulane (16-4)
Previous ranking: 20, Weekly record: 5-0
The Green Wave had yet another solid week, beating Southeastern Louisiana and Alcorn State in midweek action before sweeping New Orleans.
21. UCLA (8-6)
Previous ranking: 21, Weekly record: 0-0
The Bruins had the midweek off for finals and didn’t play over the weekend because of inclement weather at Cal Poly.
22. Clemson (10-7)
Previous ranking: 22, Weekly record: 3-1
The Tigers dropped a bad midweek game to Presbyterian before sweeping Duke at home over the weekend in ACC play.
23. Auburn (14-6)
Previous ranking: NR, Weekly record: 3-1
The Tigers sure didn’t stay out of the rankings for long. They defeated Alabama in midweek action before taking two of three from Arkansas to begin SEC play.
24. Oregon State (15-4)
Previous ranking: NR, Weekly record: 2-1
The Beavers continue to pitch at an extremely high level and took care of business on the road against Long Beach State over the weekend.
25. Baylor (13-7)
Previous ranking: 23, Weekly record: 2-2
The Bears won a midweek affair over Florida International before returning home and dropping a heartbreaking and hard-fought series to Texas Tech.
