PG Stars Over Texas Scouting Showcase

College Station, TX
Fourteen teams gathered in College Station, Texas, the weekend of June 7th to showcase their talents at the Stars Over Texas Tournament. Competing in front of more than 20 college coaches, players had a valuable opportunity to be seen, recruited, and take steps toward finding their future home away from home. The level of competition was high, and several athletes delivered standout performances throughout the weekend. The weekend was capped off with a 3-0 victory for AM Academy 2029 Christie Zito 16U, defeating a tough Magnolia Elite 09. The following players made a strong impression with their play and are currently uncommitted, actively seeking to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.
16U Division
Lila Silman, (Alvin, TX) is an athletic and dynamic middle infielder for the AM Academy 2029 Christie Zito 16U team. She’s the kind of player who immediately stands out—not just for her talent, but for her leadership and presence on the field. Silman communicates exceptionally well, keeping her infield and pitcher calm under pressure while also being the first to bring energy and celebrate her teammates’ big plays. Her calm, confident demeanor is matched by her defensive skill set; she possesses quick feet and soft hands, allowing her to make several standout plays while rotating between shortstop and second base. Offensively, Silman was a major contributor in the leadoff spot. She consistently approached each at-bat with a plan, showing strong barrel control and the ability to drive the ball on a line. Her performance at the plate resulted in an impressive .412 batting average, including a home run. Lila Silman is a high-IQ, high-impact player who brings both skill and leadership to any team she’s on.
Kortlynn Gamble (Leesville, LA) plays for the TX Dirt Divas National 2K10 and is a rising talent in the circle. She currently throws four pitches and is in the process of adding a fifth to her already effective arsenal. Ranging in velocity from 55–58 mph on her curveball, drop, and fastball, Gamble is able to keep hitters off balance without having to rely heavily on her changeup. Her command and movement often generate weak contact, leading to routine pop-ups and ground balls. What stood out just as much as her pitching ability was her composure, staying calm and collected in high-pressure situations. Offensively, she also made an impact. In a bases-loaded, two-out scenario, she delivered a clutch hit over the second baseman’s head to drive in the go-ahead run. As the game progressed, it became clear that Gamble possesses real power at the plate, consistently driving balls to the warning track. Her combination of poise, power, and pitching depth makes her a valuable two-way player to watch. Gamble went .385 on the weekend.
Camila Manzano (Brownsville, TX) is a standout player for the South TX Prospects. With good speed and the ability to read the ball well off the bat, she consistently proved to be one of the top outfielders on the field, rotating between right and left field with ease. Her defensive range and quick first step make her a reliable presence in the outfield, but her value goes beyond that—Manzano also plays second base and catcher, showing true utility ability. Offensively, she’s just as impactful. A right-handed hitter with power to all fields, Manzano brings a combination of patience and aggressiveness to the plate. She was impressive hitting .364 on the weekend and showed some pop with three doubles. She rarely lets a hittable pitch go by and frequently finds her way on base. Her approach, paired with smart baserunning and a high softball IQ, allows her to take advantage of defensive miscues and extend plays. Manzano’s blend of athleticism, versatility, and offensive presence makes her a well-rounded player to keep an eye.
Elilah Gallegos (San Benito, TX) pitcher for the South TX Prospects is a strikeout threat with a strong arsenal built around her movement pitches. Her primary weapon is a sharp curveball that she commands well, using it effectively both off the plate to right-handers and as a backdoor option to lefties. She shows the ability to gradually extend the break farther outside, keeping hitters off balance. Her changeup has potential, showing a slight drop, but could become much more effective with improvement in velocity separation from her fastball and better location lower in the zone. When refined, it could complement her curve beautifully. Elilah also throws a heavy rise ball that plays well up in the zone and can be used as a strikeout pitch. Her drop ball adds vertical movement, and her screwball gives her another look inside to righties, balancing her curve's outside break. She mixes in a fastball strategically to keep hitters honest, but her strength lies in her movement and variation. In addition to pitching, Elilah also plays first base, adding defensive value to her team. With continued work on her changeup and overall command, she has the potential to develop into a dominant, multi-dimensional pitcher who can challenge hitters on all planes. Elilah also has a string bat going .455 on the weekend with a double in 11 at bats.
Brooke Crump (Mont Belvieu, TX) is a high-level athlete with standout softball IQ who plays for the 14U Hustle Delcambre. She’s a composed and confident presence on the field, showing leadership well beyond her age. Defensively, she anchors the infield with smooth footwork, strong instincts, and the ability to make tough plays look routine. Offensively, Crump leads off with a calm, collected approach at the plate, consistently finding ways to get on base. Once she's on, she becomes a serious threat—using her speed and awareness to aggressively steal bases and put pressure on the defense. One standout moment was a perfectly executed sneaky bunt, showcasing her ability to read the field and exploit defensive gaps. Brooke Crump is not only an athletic shortstop but also a strategic player who knows how to impact the game in multiple ways. Crump hit .571 on the weekend and stole an impressive five bases.
Zoey Villarreal (Brownsville, TX) playing for the South TX Prospects is a standout dual-threat player, making a major impact both in the circle and at the plate. As a pitcher, she showcases an impressive arsenal with sharp movement on her rise, change, screwball, curve, and drop. Her ability to spin the ball effectively keeps hitters off balance and generates consistent outs. She threw 7.2 innings for her team, giving up zero earned runs. Zoey's dominance doesn't stop on the mound—she’s also a great hitter and in the tournament she finished the weekend with a strong .588 batting average. She's aggressive at the plate, puts the ball in play with authority, and is a tough out in any situation. Her combination of power, precision, and competitiveness makes her a key player to watch.
Mckenleigh Mathews (Montgomery,TX)is a standout third baseman for AM Academy 2029 Christie Zito 16U who is known for her incredible glove work and relentless effort on the field. She consistently makes highlight-reel plays, including diving stops to her backhand side and firing runners out from her knees—showcasing not only elite instincts but also a strong, accurate arm that makes tough throws look effortless. Mathews is also effective on the move, executing throws on the run with control and confidence. Offensively, she brings speed and versatility as a left-handed hitter and slapper, using her quickness and bat control to pressure defenses and get on base. Hitting .421on the weekend with 3 triples her speed and pressure on the defense is undeniable. Her combination of elite defense, athleticism, and lefty offensive skill set makes her a valuable asset on both sides of the ball.
Coco Chapman, (Houston,TX) Chapman, although young as a 2030 grad, is already turning heads as one of the youngest players competing on the AM Academy 2029 Christie Zito 16U team. Despite her age, she plays with maturity and skill well beyond her years. With quick hands and excellent footwork, she rotates seamlessly between shortstop and second base, showing natural instincts in the middle infield. Her athletic build and mobility give her strong defensive range, and she’s particularly quick on double plays. With some refinement—such as keeping her hands closer for faster transitions—her already impressive glove work will only improve. At the plate, Chapman is a right-handed hitter with a disciplined approach and noticeable power, especially up the middle. Just entering her 8th grade year, she has a high ceiling and all the tools to develop into an elite-level player in the years to come.

Abigail Davis (Magnolia, TX) of the Magnolia Elite 09 hit an impressive .545 on the weekend, leading ALL hitters with 12 hits. She drove in three runs and stole five bases.
Kendall Peel (Missouri City, TX) of the AM Academy 2029 Christie Zito 16U was impressive at the plate, batting .688 racking up 11 hits. She hit three doubles and stole four bases for her team as well.
Sydney Ackley (Magnolia, TX) of the Magnolia Elite 09 was impressive on the mound this weekend. She threw the most innings of any pitcher in the tournament and racked up 21 strikeouts and finished with a strong 1.00 ERA.
Marley Peoples (Houston, TX) of the AM Academy 2029 Christie Zito 16U had an impressive weekend in the circle, boasting a 0.50 ERA and striking out ten.
Keridessa Cantu (Corpus Christi, TX) of the South TX Prospects was excellent in the circle for her team. She ended the weekend with a 0.70 ERA. She struck out eight batters in ten innings pitched.
