National High School Top 50: April 9

The PG HS Top 50 rolls on as it was mostly chalk regarding the Top 10 this week as only Lake Travis (Texas) dropped a game, only their second of the season, and dropped to No. 10 in the country as a result. Orange Lutheran (Calif.) handled business as the No. 1 team with their sweep of the previous No. 40 team JSerra (Calif.) while the rest of the top 5 all won out. Some notable wins included No. 5 Calvary Christian Academy's (Fla.) victory over American Heritage (Fla.) and No. 2 IMG Academy's (Fla.) victory over Doral Academy (Fla.) – both losers were previously ranked this year.

Some notable risers include Cypress (Calif.), a team that moves up to No. 11 as they've taken care of business since dropping two games at the Boras Classic South. Blanchard (Okla.) and Benedectine (Va.) remain undefeated as they land at Nos. 12 and 15, respectively, and DeSoto Central (Miss.) continues to move up as their only two losses occurred during the PG HS Showdown.

There are numerous new schools to the rankings this week and they are led by No. 36 Mountain View (Ariz.), a team that has rattled off 15 straight victories. Other newcomers include No. 38 Biloxi (Miss.), No. 39 Rio Rancho (N.M.), No. 43 Lakeside (Wash.), No. 46 Nova (Fla.) and No. 50 Gross Pointe North (Mich.). No. 42 Hurricane (W.Va.) returns to the rankings after their appearance earlier in the year.

Teams in the Midwest and Northeast are getting close to their halfway points while some Southeastern schools are finishing up their seasons. With eight teams turned over this week, there's sure to be more and more movement as the regular seasons finish off and the state playoffs begin later in the month in some areas.
