JUCO Top 25: Feb. 27 | Top 250 Junior College Prospects

It was a pretty wild week across Junior College baseball, as a huge NorCal matchup took place, a North Texas team did some damage to a pair of giants, a previously-unranked Arizona school keeps beating all the ranked ones, schools in the Midwest really got going finally, and Cisco remains undefeated.

San Jac (Texas) stays at No. 1, despite dropping a game to Grayson early last week. The Gators continue to roll overall, and while the coaches would like to see a bit less swing-and-miss from the offense, they are still slashing .330/.427/.563 as a team while the pitching staff boasts a 2.36 team ERA...that combination of offense and pitching is going to win a team a lot of ballgames. Walters State (Tenn.) is right on their heels at No. 2 with a record of 18-3, and Southern Nevada--who didn't play this past week--stays at No. 3 for the time being. San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) makes a jump up to No. 4 after a big time series win this past weekend over previous No. 22 Sacramento City in what was a massive early season matchup in NorCal. Central Arizona slides down a spot this week but still stays in the Top 5, checking in at No. 5.

Crowder (Mo.) is at No. 6, and they are getting ready for what is going to be a massive week. They play a midweek with No. 23 Neosho County this week, then have a 4 game set with No. 21 Jefferson College this weekend. Big time baseball in the Midwest this week, to be sure. Santa Fe (Fla.) slides up a pair of spots to No. 7 as they stay hot, and McLennan (Texas) slides back one spot to No. 8. Wabash Valley (Ill.) slips into the Top 10, checking in at No. 9, and they'll be a focal point of Midwestern area scouts this weekend as they play a massive early-season series with John A. Logan. Rounding out the Top 10 is Chipola (Fla.) at No. 10 who, after a bit of a rocky start, seems to have found some footing at rattled off an undefeated week.

Notables:

-Cowley County (Kans.) had a big week after a somewhat rocky start, taking all 4 games from Johnson County.

-Neosho County (Kans.) makes their Top 25 debut at No. 23, off to a 10-0 start. They'll be tested this week, hosting a midweek game vs. No. 6 Crowder and then playing a 4 game set with No. 19 Cowley County this weekend.

-Grayson (Texas) jumps back into the rankings this week at No. 24 as they had an impressive week, knocking off San Jac on Monday and then taking two out of three from Howard over the weekend.

-South Mountain (Ariz.) makes their debut this week at No. 25, with a record of 17-8. They do have 8 losses, which is a higher number at this juncture, but they have big time quality wins over Southern Nevada (2), Central Arizona, Arizona Western (2), and Yavapai (2).

-Cisco (Texas) jumped up from No. 25 to No. 17 as they remain undefeated at 19-0, though their strength of schedule thus far hasn't been all that strong. They'll be tested on the backend, however, with four game sets vs. Grayson, McLennan, and Weatherford yet to come.
