2018 Preseason Junior College Top 25 | Top 250 Junior College Prospects

Though the weather hasn't exactly cooperated thus far, seemingly throughout most of the country but especially in Texas and the Midwest, as junior college baseball has been mostly going strong for a few weeks now. Obviously, the southern schools are deeper into their schedules thus far than are the northern schools, but it looks like just about everyone has at least gotten under way. So with that, this is the first in-season update of the Junior College Top 25 team rankings – which will be weekly between now and the end of the season – and a good bit has happened, as one can imagine, throughout the first several weeks. 

San Jac (Texas) remains at No. 1, starting off the season hot with a 12-2 record thus far, though we didn't get to see them against the gauntlet of what would have been the Tournament of Champions, which got cancelled due to weather earlier in February. Walters State (Tenn.) takes over at No. 2 with a record of 15-3, while Southern Nevada checks in at No. 3. Central Arizona has gotten off to a hot start thanks in part to the right arm of the No. 2 overall ranked JUCO prospect in Nick Iverson, and as such see themselves rise up to No. 4, with Crowder (Mo.) rounding out the top 5. 

Howard (Texas) has had some trouble getting games in thus far, but their wins have been impressive, and as such are in at No. 6, with fellow Texans McLennan right there at No. 7. San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) jump into the Top 10 at No. 8, and they'll get a big test this weekend when they have a three-game series with Sacramento City, who jumped up the rankings this week to No. 22. Sante Fe (Fla.) has gotten off to a very hot start and check in at No. 9, while reigning National Champions Chipola (Fla.) round out the top 10. 

With the season in full swing in several parts of the country, with the northern schools rapidly catching up and getting underway, and league play starting sooner than you'd think, any week can be a big week in JUCO baseball. Make sure you're checking back here weekly.
