After a three-game series that didn't fall short of the hype leading into the weekend, Oregon State has emerged as the new No. 1 team in the nation thanks to a sweep of the visiting Arizona Wildcats. The Beavers won the first two game in dramatic, walkoff fashion, and put an exclamation mark on their weekend's work with a little more convincing 11-7 win on Sunday. The bats came alive while the pitchers held the dangerous Arizona offense back just enough to pull off the hat-trick.

Oregon State leap-frogs Louisville, who lost their first game of the season last Tuesday at Cincinnati, and also lost the first game of their series at NC State (a game that all-everything Brendan McKay took the loss) before collecting themselves to win the final two games of the weekend and their series against the Wolfpack.

The Top 25 welcomes two new teams, a pair of programs that have been waiting patiently for a few weeks for the opportunity to be recognized on a national stage. St. John's debuts after a 4-0 week pushed their overall record to 18-2 while Oklahoma won their Big 12 series against Baylor (who fell out of the rankings) to move to 23-5 and check in at No. 24.

With numerous teams in the middle of the rankings having bad weeks it caused for some dramatic movement in both directions. The biggest such move was made by Houston, coming off of their second consecutive weekend sweep – this time on the road against UC Irvine – moving up nine spots after an impressive 5-0 week. Louisiana and Ole Miss both suffered eight-spot drops in the rankings.
