PG/WWBA Teams Battle in Connie Mack World Series

Maybin Puts On Record Breaking Show

Two of the very best PG/WWBA Clubs in the nation faced each other last night in the semi-finals of the Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, NM. The Midland Redskins (OH) defeated the Florida Bombers (FL) 12-4 to move into the Championship game against Subia (AZ). The big win avenged an early Midland first round loss to the Bombers.

PG National, WWBA Championship players and AFLAC All Americans outfielder Cameron Maybin (NC) and right-hand pitcher Bradley Clark played important roles in the Midland victory. Clark was the winning pitcher and Maybin was named the player of the game. Maybin set an all time Connie Mack World Series record with three home runs in the game. He ended up going 4 for 4 with the three home runs.

Clark is a tall pitcher that we’ve seen up in the mid 90s before and his best pitch is a sharp power curve ball that we’ve seen up as high as 84 mph in Marietta at the PG/WWBA National Championships. When he’s on, there is no high school pitcher in America any better. Maybin was the top power hitter at the PG National and hit a tape measure 470’ shot (with a wood bat) in the Marietta Championships. He also runs a 6.4 60 yds and is presently ranked the #2 prospect in the nation behind Justin Upton (VA). Maybin finished 2nd to Jordan Danks (TX) in the AFLAC home run contest.

Subia (AZ) goes into the final as the only undefeated team (due to Midlands early lose to the Bombers) Midland will need to defeat Subia twice to take home the Championship trophy. Another PG / WWBA team, the East Cobb Yankees won the Connie Mack World Series in 2003. One of the most unfortunate Connie Mack regionals is the Southeast which each year has the Florida Bombers, East Cobb, the Florida Pokers, Dulins Dodgers and other top national level teams fight it out in order to qualify one team for the prestigious Connie Mack World Series. It would be nice to see this region divided up so at least two of the best teams in the country made it into the World Series.
