John Carlo Laquara is a 2024 C/1B with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Millstone, NJ who attends Allentown. Medium, proportioned frame with some lower half strength and room to add strength. Recorded a 5.40 second forty-yard dash time. Primary catcher that receives from a slightly side-saddled stance with soft hands and quickness to his footwork. Displayed step-and-replace footwork out of the crouch, transfers quickly with direct hand path and recorded arm strength up to 74 mph from behind the plate during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from a wider, crouched stance with lower hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Intent based stroke with flatter swing path and some present bat speed. Middle-of-the field approach with some feel for the barrel and occasional power to the pullside. Will continue to improve with mechanical adjustments behind the plate and minor refinements in his swing. Good Student.
