Matthew Arnold is a 2023 C with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Malta, NY who attends Ballston Spa Senior. Medium, square shouldered frame with some present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.86 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set up behind the plate, receives the ball out front, gains short ground coming out of crouch, compact arm action and shows accuracy on throws, occasionally works across body on throws, gets it out of glove well and repeats actions, remains compact with overall actions. Left-handed hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; weight begins on backside, short launch moving into swing. Remains compact and tight with hands, can create more separation and extension in swing. Shows comfort working to the middle and pull side, short shift moving into contact, gets the barrel through the zone, occasionally gets around the ball at contact. Very good student.
