2023 Pittsburgh Indoor Showcase (Saturday)
Caden Schmidt is a 2026 C/OF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Langhorne, PA who attends LaSalle High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, began with a one knee set up in drills, pops tall out of crouch, gains short ground with lower half and can continue to refine lower half actions, shows accuracy on throws with a longer stroke through the backside, efficient actions with some carry to second base. Right-handed hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and lower back elbow at the plate. Gets closed moving into contact with hover leg lift, keeps hands close and shows ability to impact the ball to the middle of the field; will continue to unlock additional strength with added extension in stroke. Creates line drive carry off of the barrel, repeats swing and keeps hands inside the ball. Very good student.
