William Zukowski is a live bodied 2005 outfielder from Peru, IL, who we’ve seen before at various events. He didn’t run the 60 in Fort Myers because of a minor leg muscle injury, but this kid can fly. We’ve had him down to first base as low as 3.99 and he has excellent first step base stealing quickness. Zukowski’s speed obviously plays well in the outfield and he has very good arm strength with above average accuracy. He can definitely play high level college defense in centerfield. Zukowski’s game approach at the plate is much better than his batting practice swing. In BP, Zukowski pulls off the ball badly, cutting himself off with a wristy swing that doesn’t produce much bat speed. He might be trying to pull and loft the ball, which definitely isn’t his profile. During games, Zukowski is much more balanced to the ball. He makes solid contact to all fields and had three game hits, including a very hard hit double to right centerfield. If he puts the ball in play, especially on the ground, Zukowski can ignite an offense with his speed. Very athletic player with great instincts and a bright future. William is a very good student.
