Austin Fries is a 2027 RHP/C, 3B, OF with a 5-11 145 lb. frame from Portage, WI who attends Portage. Primary right-handed pitcher that works exclusively out of the stretch. He utilizes a knee to chest leg kick and uses drop and drive back leg mechanics. He does a nice job of working line line with the plate and sometimes lands slightly closed, giving a cross fire look to the hitter. He has a high effort motion with head whack at release. He is able to generate nice spin on his pitches that allow his fastball to stay on plane when pitching to the top half of the zone. He primarily worked his fastball away from hitters, but came in occasionally to keep the hitters off the plate. His curveball has solid depth and shape to it, making it a nice off speed offering. Secondary outfielder that fields the ball out in front of his body with two hands. He has smooth actions and made nice, accurate throws to the bases. Also worked out behind the plate, transferring the ball at his chest before firing the ball accurately and on a hop to second base. Right-handed hitter that starts in a wide base with high hands and a high back elbow. He uses a leg lift trigger for timing and looks to hit the ball where it is pitched. He showed the ability to leverage the ball to the pull side when he was on time and made contact out in front of the plate.
