2022 Northeast Prospect Showcase (Tues-Wed)
Bennett Xavier is a 2026 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Mattapoisett, MA who attends Tabor Academy. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean build and room to fill throughout and develop physically moving forward. Ran an 8.45 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, full swing up with a simple, repeatable delivery on the mound; works to a three-quarters release point and does a nice job of filling the strike zone. Fastball topped out at 69 mph, pounded the zone and maintained velocity throughout three innings, missed bats within the zone and projects for more velocity moving forward. Mixed a changeup with subtle fading life to arm side up to 60 mph. Worked out both in the outfield and first base; short and quick steps to the ball in the outfield, utilizes a crow hop into release and tends to get uphill with release, carry will continue to develop. Bounces off the bag well at first base, shorter/compact arm action through the back, clean funnel, pivots well on turns. Left-handed hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Contact oriented approach, occasionally gets mistimed with front foot, full swing path through the zone and looks to generate contact to the pull side, bat speed will continue to develop with added physical strength.
