Joseph Kelly is a 2026 OF/RHP/UT with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Evanston, IL who attends Loyola Academy. A taller frame with squared shoulders and strength that shows in the lower half. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder who was patient in his approach during his round of throws. He shuffles into release with some jolt out of the hand and good carry on his throws at 84 mph. He fields the ball out front and works into a longer arm action as he gets rid of it. He also worked out as an infielder with corner actions, showing footwork that was direct to the baseball. He had softer hands, working with the glove out front. He moved well laterally and fielded it bent at the waist. He showed some strength to his release with an extended slot and had throws around the bag at 85 mph with carry across the diamond. A right-handed hitter who has a bent knee stance with slightly open feet. He has higher-set hands with a high back elbow. He uses a leg lift trigger. Stays quick to launch, working on an uphill path. He used the strength well, impacting it well off the barrel. Turns the hips hard. Worked mostly pull-side and up the middle during his round of BP swings. Produced a 90 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Also took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with a higher leg lift, with a tucked knee as he does so. He gets into his backside and engages well as he works down the slope, showing some force into his rotation and landing. He has a loose arm action with above-average arm speed, pitching from a normal three-quarters arm slot. He was up to 85 mph on the fastball, with spin up to 2,370 RPMs, allowing him to get some whiffs with the pitch. He also was turning over a nice changeup up to 77 mph, killing spin well on the pitch that had good fade to it. He also had a low-70s slider with spin above 2,300 RPMs and a shorter break. The fastball and changeup allowed him to succeed over his 2.0 innings of work, striking out 2 and allowing just 1 hit. Great student. Named to 2023 PG Main Event TP List.
