High School Top 50: March 19

As we’re still early in the season for many states, and others are just starting, we’re still at the bi-weekly update part of the year so this update has some big moves, but still plenty of non-moves from others. The biggest highlight of this update is that we have yet another new Number 1 as Stoneman Douglas (Fla.) lost for their first time in 2 years, paving the way for Catholic (La.) to take the top spot after another impressive week. They’ve now rattled off 6 wins against Top 25 teams already this year, their latest coming against Lewisburg (Miss.) and Farragut (Tenn.), a couple teams still holding amongst the Top 10. Outside of that, it’s a small number of moves across the entirety of the top part of the rankings to this point now.

Some of the biggest changes came in the middle parts as the follow teams made big moves throughout the rankings: Jackson Prep (Miss.), Valley View (Ark.), Valley Christian (Calif.) St. John’s Country Day (Fla.), Trinity Christian Academy (Fla.), Friendswood (Texas) and Tomball (Texas). We had 5 new teams join the rankings this week with Phenix City (Ala.), Westlake (Calif.), Catawba Ridge (S.C.), Prestonwood Christian Academy (Texas) and Pensacola Catholic (Fla.). Plenty of big matchups will shake this list up in the next 2 weeks.
