17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 5

Getting the day started with a bang was Midland Redskins’ Jackson Irons (2024, Arlington, Tex.) who went a perfect 3-3 and capped off his day with a massive bomb to the pull side. The uncommitted first baseman stands at 6-foot-3, 215-pounds with significant strength throughout the body. He’s pretty athletic for his size too, moving well over at first and showing good athleticism in the box. He creates separation well and has obvious strength at impact. There’s good bat speed though and Irons is a better hitter than just a big bodied masher.  

Gunner Geile (2024, Tucson, Ariz.) had a 2-3 day including a home run against the Florida Burn over at Brook Run and looks the part of an athletic outfielder with a sweet swing. At 6-foot-1, 185-pound
