Johnny Francisco (2024, Smithtown, N.Y.) came in swinging a hot bat Friday night to kick off Team Francisco Notorious 9 17U’s tournament with a win, ending the day 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Francisco was a constant on-base guy at the top of the order, doing it all from shooting opposite field liners to putting a bunt down the third base line for a hit. The speed for the 5-foot-6, 140-pound lefty is evident, making things happen on the basepaths and consistently putting himself in scoring position for the guys behind him. Francisco generates plenty of bat speed and keeps the bat path level for a line drive approach with backspin creation present.
