Florida Qualifier Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Tristan McGregor (2023, Sarasota, Fla.) was a whiff machine in his three-inning outing for Florida Kingfish 18u. The right-handed pitcher racked up eight strikeouts, most of the swinging variety, with a solid two-pitch mix. McGregor has a medium, athletic build with sizable strength in his lower half. The delivery was compact with good implementation of the lower half and clean and efficient arm stroke to a traditional three-quarter release. His fastball sat comfortably in the mid-80s, showing short life and downhill angle at its best when he stayed in his lower half. McGregor complemented his heater with a breaking ball that flashed two-plane action with tight spin and late bite. He was able to flip the offering in for get-me-over strikes and had the feel to bury it when needed. There is potential upside as a starter or multi-inning weapon in relief at the next level.
