Fordham commit Matthew Dieguez (2023, Westbury, N.Y.) had himself quite the weekend, as the lean, quick-twitch infielder collected nine hits for the eventual champions. He employs a simple stroke at the plate with good hand-eye and plenty of feel for the barrel. There is some gap-to-gap power potential and he does have the ability to turn the barrel on the inner half, but he uses the whole field effectively and will hit behind the runner effortlessly with a flick of a wrist. Overall, the 2023 New York native hit .450 (9-for-20) for the event, drove in nine runs and scored nine as well. In the field, Dieguez has positional versatility with the ability to man all three infield positions and the athleticism to do so seamlessly.
