Athan Kroll (2024, Brighton, Colo.) dominated on the mound Sunday when he struck out 13 in his five scoreless innings on the mound. A tall and athletic projectable right-hander that showed feel for three usable pitches. He located his mid- to upper-80s fastball around the zone with advanced command of the pitch. Changing eye levels of hitters and getting a steep downhill plane on the pitch when located down in the strike zone.  His breaking balls are distinctly different. The curve is an overhand 11-5 shape pitch with consistent depth and spin efficiency. He’ll throw it to get ahead of hitters and as a swing-and-miss out pitch. The slider was used less frequently but showed sharp late horizontal break and was also located very well, often starting in and breaking out of the strike zone. Both breaking balls have a chance to be true swing-and-miss offerings. The pitch mix, projectable build and already polished feel to pitch give him a very promising future on the mound. Committed to Dallas Baptist University.
