Thaddeus Jackson Layne is a 2023 1B with a 6-3 150 lb. frame from Redlands, CA who attends Redlands. Exceptionally long and lean frame. Ran a 7.71 second 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, comes at the ball hard and works low to receive it, funnels well to a short arm action and shows quickness in his feet during his turns into throws. Will improve throws with added arm strength as he fills out. Right-handed hitter, sets up with high hands and a high back elbow, loads deep and strides back in with shift of his lower half. Works short to the ball on an uphill swing path as he looks to get the barrel head out and lift the ball at impact. Was able to generate mostly line drive contact to the middle of the field and will improve carry off the barrel as he adds strength to the frame. Very good student.
