Malakye Matsumoto is a 2026 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-6 110 lb. frame from Manhattan Beach, CA. Malakye is an emerging player who shows a solid fundamental base that should continue to help grow his game. In addition to his talent on the field, Malakye is an exemplary student. He ran an 8.29 60 yard dash. A primary catcher, Malakye is regimented in and with his receiving ability. He catches with two hands and gives great effort in getting his 57 mph throws away. His 2.79 pop time is age appropriate. His effort level will certainly help him as he continues through his career. He also took his turn in the infield. His footwork is very good and his glove plays well. He throws with max effort and his 56 mph tosses are true to the base. At the plate, Malakye makes consistent contact. He has a sound feel for the barrel and a solid swing operation. The only thing Malakye lacks is experience and physical maturity. Both of those will come. Certainly want to see him in a few years. He has a bright future.
