Isaac Martinez is a 2022 SS/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Stevenson Ranch, CA who attends West Ranch HS. Isaac is an emerging, fundamentally sound player who shows projectable ability at more than one position. In addition to his noted skills on the field, Isaac is an exemplary student. A primary middle infielder, is quick and sure to position. His glove work is smooth and pure. His transition is consistent and his throws across the diamond show routine carry and accuracy. Isaac also took a turn on the mound. He employs a very simple operation that includes a shorter takeaway and an extended finish. He works down the slope well and repeats his arm action consistently. He is a strike thrower who works his fastball to both edges of the plate highlighting his plus command and control. His 12/6 breaking curveball shows short, quick, and late depth at the dish and is a sound secondary offering. His change up is a plus feel pitch that he appears to have a lot of confidence in. It shows late depth and tumble at the dish. At the plate, Isaac has a swing operation that allows his barrel to stay on plane and strike the ball well. He is more of a contact first, on base guy, and that suits his swing mechanics well. He shows strength in his hands and he squared a few up that shows he has some future power in his barrel. Isaac is a solid HS player with some upside. Coupled with his strong academic record, he can certainly can project to the next level.
