Brandon Merrill is a 2020 LHP/1B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Clermont, FL who attends Ocoee. Large, square shouldered frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build. Recorded a 7.67 second 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, mature presence on the mound with a smooth delivery, starts simple with a leg lift to the belt, short arm action through the back working up to a three-quarters slot. Creates good arm-side run to the fastball, topped out at 78 mph and has the ability to move it around the zone. Showed good feel for a 12-to-6 curveball that he can get swing-and-miss with up to 60 mph. Displayed nice command and pitchability. Secondary first baseman, clean and athletic actions, strong glove and gets to the ball well with strength on throws. Left-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and lower back elbow; swings with intent and creates nice present bat speed. Works to the pull side with feel for the barrel, ball comes off well when squared with a line drive swing path. Generates extension well through contact, repeats well. Good student. Named to 2019 Uncommitted Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
