2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Zach Jacobson is a 2020 RHP/C, 2B, 3B, OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Gilman, IA who attends East Marshall. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands in line with front side and carries momentum well. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball came out of hand well producing late run to arm side in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with solid spin and good depth in the upper 60's. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a changeup offering in the mid 70's. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed developing feel for the barrel while employing a mid-field approach. Flashed the ability to generate occasional sharp contact to the middle of the field when squared. Good student. Named to the 2019 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase, Top Prospect List.
