Fahad Alzaid is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 5-11 176 lb. frame from Abdullah Alsalem, KU who attends Kuwait English. Medium frame and build. Projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather with slight coil over back leg. Medium arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball created some downward plane through the zone with occasional run to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with softer spin and solid depth when staying on top of offering at release. Flashed the ability late in outing to create some natural cut to glove side as well with fastball. Consistently looked to challenge hitters throughout each inning of work with both pitches. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean footwork while centering the baseball and pivoting to second base. Funnels out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Created accurate carry to the bag topping at 72 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a crouched, even stance and simple front side trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Clean hand path to baseball with a fluid, naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Flashed good feel for the barrel while employing a mid field approach. Generated some carry to the gaps when connecting with baseball out front and creating leverage. Good student.
