Ryan Sweeney is a 2021 C/RHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Manchester, NH who attends Choate Rosemary Hall. Medium frame with long limbs an beginnings of strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary catcher with a slight side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouch and utilized a simple, compact glove circle. Released from a three-quarters arm slot generating online carry to the bag at 76 mph, best workout pop time of 1.96. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and sweeping leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Clean hand path to baseball with a linear barrel plane through extension. Looks to stay behind baseball at contact while utilizing a gap to gap approach. Flashed the ability to created occasional jump off the barrel when creating extension at contact. Also pitched showing a simple, repeatable delivery. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed solid sink with run to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 mph. Looked to attack hitters showing the feel to work to each edge of the plate with fastball offering. Also flashed a knuckleball offering in the upper 60's that generated some flutter out of hand.
