Austin Gallagher is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Houston Christian HS. Large frame with long limbs and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with slight drop and drive actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball had some downhill plane through the zone with occasional run in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Cruveball had 11/5 shape with solid spin and some depth in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup, matched arm slot well and created some fade in the low 70's. Showed good feel for all three pitches and consistently filled the bottom and outside edge of the zone. Also worked out defensively from first base showed smooth paced footwork while centering with sound glove actions while funneling. Developing range while coming off the bag and released from a high three-quarters slot. Throws generated softer carry across the infield topping at 70 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and large leg lift trigger. Loose path to contact with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Swung with intent and looked to drive the baseball with authority. Makes best contact when front side trigger lands on time and created separation at contact. Good student as well.
