Quinn Oliver is a 2018 RHP/3B, 1B with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Fort Collins, CO who attends Berthoud. Large, tall frame with wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.43 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, stays tall on back side at gather with a medium leg lift to balance point. Utilizes lower half while driving to the plate with drop and drive actions, carries momentum in line with plate and through finish. Compact arm circle back at separation and released from a mid three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed occasional life through the zone with some running action in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good depth, showed good feel for curveball offering with the ability to throw effectively in positive and negative counts. Aggressively attacked the strike zone and challenged hitters throughout each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from first base, funnels baseball from a slightly deeper position and works through transition with clean exchanges. Long arm circle and released from a three-quarters slot generating accurate carry across the infield, topped at 79 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple front side trigger. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Flashed good strength at contact when on time with the ability to drive the ball through the gaps with authority. Very good student as well.
