2017 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Simen Restad is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Prior Lake, MN who attends Prior Lake. Large frame with broad shoulders, long limbs and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a large rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing downhill tilt with heavy run to arm side in the mid 80's, topped at 87 miles per hour. Fastball flashed some natural cut as well when getting to side of offering. Curveball had 10/5 shape with tight spin and hard, late depth. Also flashed a changeup offering the showed some wiggle with sink in the mid 70's. Aggressively challenged hitters while on the mound flashed the feel to work to each edge of the plate with all three pitches. Consistently stayed off barrels and induced weak contact throughout each inning of work. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane. Created good extension while working through the baseball to the middle of the field. Looks to turn top hand to contact created good bat speed with strength through the zone. Ball jumped off the barrel well generating hard, loud carry when squared. Good student. Named to the 2017 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
