Tyler Flis is a 2019 C with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Golden Valley, MN who attends Robbinsdale Armstrong HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Ran a 7.62 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly higher set while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground would working out of crouch with fundamental footwork. Clean, extended exchanges while working through transfer. Releases from a compact three-quarters slot that produced some carry to the bag with accuracy. Topped at 72 mph with a best workout pop time of 2.08. Right handed hitter with a crouch, spread stance and high back elbow set. Lower half launches to contact with rotational actions generating minimal shift. Loose hand path to contact that generated a line drive swing plane through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach and showed best jump off the barrel when hands were extended at contact out front. Flashed occasional bat speed and strength when barrel came through the zone with fluidity. Good student as well.
